About Us

We are Ruth and Steve - the directors of Somerset Levels Basket & Craft Centre, a company specialising in the retailing of quality basketware.
                                                                                              

Our family business goes back to 1864 when Ruth's great, great grandfather started his basketmaking business in Stratford, East London.  During the second world war, the business transferred to Somerset - the source of their raw material, willow.

As well as willow baskets made in our own workshop, we offer an extensive range of quality basketware handmade by craftspeople from all across the globe and therefore can provide a variety of select products in many weaving materials e.g. rush, seagrass, cane etc.  You need to look no further for such an amazing range.

We grow our own willows and can supply this for you to make your own garden projects (as frequently seen on TV), living willow sculptures, school artwork or making your own baskets.

If you are in Somerset, please come and visit us, however we are closed on Tuesdays and Sundays plus a couple of weeks for family holidays - so please telephone first.
